THE OHIO REPUBLICAN PARTY - AS A WHOLE - DOES NOT SCORE ITS REPUBLICANS. Why is that?
I can tell you from experience that it is normally because county party leaders are afraid to actually be measured to some sort of standard. Just as a child does not like getting a scorecard - neither do the Chairmen of Ohio’s County Republican Central committees.
Parties with Chairmen that treat their local party as a marketing organization - rather than a political party with a goal of winning - tend not to be so concerned with winning as they are with consolidating political power.
Ahhhh, yes, it is good to be the King - even if your Kingdom is a pile of crap.
DON’T WORRY; WE’VE DONE THE WORK
The Ohio Republican Precinct Project is an outgrowth of the Ohio Promise Keepers and the Committee for a Better Ohio. These are two organizations that have been demonized by the Ohio Republican Party for their ethical and moral thinking. These organizations aim to realize a better Ohio through conservative policies. Many of Ohio’s Republicans do not want to admit that liberal Republicans are at the helm - and while we are not making a mad dash for the cliff (like under Democrat rule) - we are still headed in the same direction, albeit at a slower pace. Conservatives want to take the wheel and turn the ship around.
I will continue to argue that Ohio is really more Red than Texas - but unfortunately - Conservatives won’t work together towards a common vision and that prevents Ohio from leading.
TEXAS SCORING
The Texas Scoring of Republicans is a measure that evaluates the primary voting record of registered Republicans over a span of 20 years or more. It assigns +2 points for every "R" vote, -2 points for any other party, and 0 points for a blank space. The higher the score, the more reliable and dependable the person is considered as a Republican. The Engage Quotient (EQ) measures the percentage of Republicans who score 90% or higher using the Texas Scoring method compared to the county population.
These tools are essential for the Republican Party to measure their effectiveness in engaging voters and winning elections. It allows them to set benchmarks and goals, focus their resources to gain donations and volunteers and identify areas of improvement.
However, it's essential to acknowledge that Texas Scoring and EQ are imperfect measures. For instance, newcomers to an area may have a low score due to a lack of history, and a county undergoing rapid growth may have a low EQ. Therefore, it may be necessary to use alternative measures, such as the number of Republicans occupying elected offices.
The standards and rules of thumb provided can guide the Republican Party to assess their effectiveness in winning elections and dominating all aspects of county and city governments. A county with an EQ of 0-5 is considered ineffective, while an EQ of over 15 is a gold standard, demonstrating dominance in all aspects of government.
