Ohio State Republican Central Committee Officer Elections on Friday
An open letter to Ohio Republican State Central Committee Members
An open-letter the Members of the Ohio Republican State Central Committee,
The future of our party—indeed, of Ohio itself—rests on the choices that the Ohio Republican State Central Committee (ORSCC) make on Friday. But before choices can be made, one must open their eyes to the realities before them. Reality is unforgiving, and it does not yield to wishes, delusions, or the complacency of most ORSCC members. It demands accountability, integrity, and the courage to confront failure. Let us, therefore, begin by examining the reality of the Ohio Republican Party under the leadership of Chairman Alex Triantafilou.
When Mr. Triantafilou took the reins, he promised a new era of leadership—a bold declaration of a "new sheriff in town." Yet what has materialized under his watch is neither new nor bold. It is the same tired status quo, painted over with meaningless platitudes. Instead of leading, he has presided over an operation that reacts weakly to the advances of Democrats and far-left extremists, offering no vision for victory, no strategy for growth, and no courage to challenge the deeply entrenched failures within our ranks. The result? Ohio has deteriorated further under his leadership.
What has ORSCC given us for leadership? Let us count the failures.
Under his Triantafilou’s predecessor, Bob Paduchik, the party squandered resources and opportunities. A Republican congressional seat was lost to Democrats just as a seat was lost because the State’s population cannot keep up with the rest of the United States. Millions of dollars were overspent on Governor DeWine's campaign, ensuring the election of a leader whose policies have been indistinguishable from those of our Democratic opponents. Paduchik's tenure handed the reins of Ohio's schools to Democrats by not supporting Republicans for State School Board, paving the way for woke indoctrination programs under the guise of "Social Emotional Learning" and "Positive Behavioral Interventions" pushed by the Governor and the Department of Workforce Development. These were failures of ineptitude, failures of vision, failures of courage—but they were also failures enabled by this committee that did not correct inept leadership, which stood silent when it should have roared in protest.
Now under Triantafilou, the rot has deepened. The "Blue 22" defectors within our own Republican caucus stymied conservative legislation and aided Democrat agendas. While the ORSCC scolded the Blue 22 they were not penalized in anyway and even rewarded with $3 million in Republican Party funds that were pilfered and redirected to support Republican House members who betrayed Republican values. Despite holding the reins of government, we find ourselves leaderless in spirit, offering only passive acquiescence as Ohio became an abortion-on-demand state. Drug overdoses, human trafficking, violent crime, pedophiles, and economic stagnation continue to plague our communities, yet the chairman of the Ohio Republican Party and this committee seem content to enrich themselves while Ohio burns.
What vision does Triantafilou offer to reverse this decline? None. What plan does he propose to rebuild our party from the ground up, to engage Ohio Republicans, to energize the grassroots? To build passion for a party that actually does something other than sell itself to the highest bidder? There is no plan - just keep repeating the same thing over and over and expect different results. Triantafilou’s leadership is a hollow echo, a façade of activity masking a desperate clinging to the status quo. He has not been a new sheriff but a timid and visionless caretaker of mediocrity that does not have the trust of Republican voters.
This is not leadership. This is surrender. And it is unforgivable.
Under the guise of progress, Ohio Republicans have embraced the tactics of Soviet-style economic planning. Billions of taxpayer dollars were poured into Governor Kasich’s green energy boondoggles and under DeWine and Triantafilou electric cars that no one can afford, battery plants are being build for commercial trucks that we don’t have the electrical infrastructure to charge, and microchip plants producing obsolete microchips are slowly being built—all while small businesses and entrepreneurs, the lifeblood of a free economy, are stifled under oppressive taxes and regulations. The Republican Party once championed free markets and the invisible hand of capitalism. Now, it bows to soviet style central planning and cronyism, believing it can outthink the market when history shows - it never has.
The Republican Party of Ohio no longer resonates with its own base. It has abandoned the values that made this party great—the values of liberty, free enterprise, and personal responsibility. Instead, it panders to independents and Democrats, forsaking its principles in a futile attempt to curry favor with those who will never embrace the values that made our state and the nation great. The result is an aimless, rudderless party, led by ORSCC buffoons who believe that recreational marijuana, casino gaming, and ever-growing government will somehow solve our problems.
Let’s be clear the Ohio Republican Party did not elect Donald Trump—Donald Trump resonating with Ohio’s Republicans who want a better future did. The party did not lead the fight for conservative values; it has merely paid lip service to where the grassroots pointed. And now, it threatens to drag us back even further into the swamp of mediocrity, where true leadership means nothing, and failure is rewarded.
To those who plan to vote to retain Alex Triantafilou as chairman, I ask: Have you not seen enough? What more must you witness before you recognize that this man and his people have no vision, no courage, and no plan to save our party or our state? If you support his continued reign, you are complicit in the failures that will follow. You are endorsing the status quo, a status quo that is leading us to ruin.
The best course of action is clear: Leave the chairmanship vacant. Let the vice chair take the reins for 90 days while we advertise the position and seek candidates worthy of the title. Let us demand a leader who embodies the values of this party, who has the vision to rebuild it, and the courage to fight for it.
Ohio cannot afford another day of failed leadership. The choice is yours—but remember: the consequences will be borne by us all.
Yours in liberty,
Jon Paul Morrow
Conservative Republican
Director of the Committee for a Better Ohio
I could not agree more! Why have patriot groups, sprung up all over Ohio? These are people who have true republican values but have been pushed out of the 'establishment' party. They demand change and are therefore seen as a threat to the entrenched party elite. They should be embraced for the energy they bring.
Bravo, I totally agree with you. The Ohio Republican Party is failing We the People. It is sad that I can’t even say anything even good about the Republican Central Committee at the local level. It is a HUGE SEWER that is way past it cleaning and has malfunctioned. Calling it a swamp is to good of a term. Swamps are a beautiful ecosystem created by God. Calling All Honey-dippers, We have a sewer in Ohio that needs repaired and totally cleaned!
